Lashon Burrell is the Founder and Executive Chef of Cajun Cafe Chicago, a full-service catering company built around bringing people together through food, culture, and hospitality. While her cooking is influenced by Southern traditions, her approach to food has continued to grow and evolve over the years—shaped by the people she serves, the spaces she works in, and the experiences she’s gained along the way.

Lashon’s culinary journey began in 2009, when she relocated from East St. Louis to Chicago to pursue her passion for cooking and formal training. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Culinary Arts in 2012 and went on to build hands-on experience across a variety of roles within the food and hospitality industry. Alongside her work in kitchens and events, Lashon remained committed to learning the business side of the industry, later earning a Master’s Degree in Business Administration.

In 2020, Lashon began hosting intimate dining experiences that allowed her to connect more directly with guests through food and conversation. These gatherings became a meaningful way to build relationships, understand client needs, and refine her approach to hospitality. What started as small, intentional experiences laid the groundwork for something larger.

In 2022, Lashon officially launched Cajun Cafe Chicago, growing the business into a trusted catering partner for corporate teams, nonprofits, and milestone events. Today, she leads the company with intention and care, creating experiences that feel welcoming, well-supported, and worth coming back to.
